Gavin Keeley, Chief Technical Officer Gavin is what is best described as a Lean and Green Evangelist “I have always been interested in how technology disrupts existing business Now with community attitudes and legislation demanding more sustainable approaches to the use of resources and energy, it is business that requires changes in existing technology approaches. “Our traditional approaches to the provision of technology in commerce and government must now be completely re-evaluated. The pressure has been building for some time through the consumerisation of IT and the latest Internet capabilities. ‘Green IT’ is just the tipping point that catalyses the overall change. Taken together these changes require a shift in our thinking; the policies and practices common in organisations pre-date all of these developments. Leaner, more efficient technologies are available today and more are emerging. These will not only produce financial benefits to organizations but also place less strain on our environment – lean and green”. As a committed change agent, during the 80’s and 90’s, he founded and established a successful IT Consulting company, after an initial period learning his trade at a ‘big four’ consultancy. The company he founded became renowned, through white papers, trade articles and at conferences, for pioneering with emerging technologies at a portfolio of blue chip companies. Gavin led the wave of new technologies such as Decision Support and Executive Information in the 80’s and throughout the ‘90’s he again led the way with internet and advanced networking technologies - including a number of ‘world first’ client implementations for, amongst others, Oracle and Microsoft More recently he was the first CTO for Norwich Union General Insurance in the UK and implemented the first “Pay As You Drive” capability for the Insurer. As Executive General Manager for Business Technology Solutions at Suncorp he was responsible for leading business innovation through technology.
